Indian fashion to get a Spanish connect

FDCI president Sunil Sethi and the Spanish Fashion Designers Association will meet this weekend to discuss the possibility of the fashion fraternities of the two countries coming together.
The success of the first Spain-India fashion meeting in 2010 has led to another round of meetings in Madrid and Valladoid, Spain, from June 11 to 13. In 2010, Spain had invited a few of FDCI’s designers to showcase their collections and start a business opportunity there.This year, too, they have invited four NIFT graduates for the same, we learnt at the recent graduating ceremony of NIFT students in Delhi. The FDCI president, Sunil Sethi, has also been invited this time, to discuss further collaborations with India. “I have also been invited to talk about how India and Spain can come together,” confirmed Sethi, adding, “This time we are looking at inviting Spain’s designers to show at our upcoming fashion events, so that they can explore Indian market too.
In the long run, we also plan to have FDCI’s designers showcase at their fashion shows as well. It will be on the same lines as what we had done for Japan. I will be meeting them this weekend.”
NIFT designers to go to Spain
We also learnt that four NIFT graduates – Nida Mahmood, Amit Aggarwal and designer duo Paras and Shalini, along with the director general and a senior faculty member of NIFT, have been invited by the Spanish Fashion Designers Association to showcase their collections at the Spanish ramp. They will leave for Madrid and Valladoid on June 10. Popular Spanish designers Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Amaya Arzuaga, David Delfin, Lemoniez and Charo Azcona, among others, will be present at the fashion event.
